2008 PANTHER CUP
(July 1, 2008)
" Come see the amazing golf ball whacker guy!", This Saturday the 3rd annual Panther cup golf challenge will take part at the Woodbridge golf club. Panther players new and old will compete to lift the precious Panther golf cup, with defending champion Alan Armour providing this years trophy. The event is organised by current Panther captain Neil Rouse and T-Off will be at 9am. Goodluck everyone.
PANTHERS TEAR THROUGH TITANS
(July 1, 2008)
In the return game at the link centre between the Swindon Panthers and Cardiff Titans, the home team took no prisoners and swept past the Cardiff side 5-0. Cardiff were plagued with Penalties that prevented them from mounting any sustainable offence on the Panther net and with Swindon Capitalising on their chances and missing a few others the Titans never really had a chance. I hard fought and well deserved victory. Next Sunday the Panthers host the Milton Keynes Hurricanes for the first match between the two sides this season. Faceoff 4.15pm
FIXTURE CHANGE
(June 25, 2008)
Because the game against the Milton Keynes Hurricanes had to be cancelled due to ice problems, the game has now been rearranged for Sunday 6th July. The Panthers were supposed to be playing the Basingstoke Cougars on that day but this game will now be played on Saturday 12th July at 12.15pm.
ICE PROBLEMS AT THE LINK
(June 24, 2008)
The Swindon Panthers home game against the Milton Keynes Hurricanes had to be cancelled this weekend due to problems with the ice. Technical stuff at the link centre hope to have the problems resolved by Thursday of this weekend to enable the Panthers/Titans game to go ahead this Sunday. The Game against Milton Keynes will look to be re-scheduled.
TITANS EDGE PANTHERS
(June 24, 2008)
In a hard fought game the Swindon Panthers narrowly lost their away match to the Cardiff Titans. Despite taking an early lead the Titans proved too much for the visiting Panthers and saw Swindon off 3-1 winners in a game where both teams had plenty of chances. The Titans visit the Link centre this weekend in the return leg, faceoff 4.15pm
HAWKS REVENGE
(June 16, 2008)
The Panthers travelled to Chelmsford last weekend with a depleated squad and paid the cost by losing 11-6 to an impressive Nighthawk side. The Panthers went down 3-0 early in the first but managed to get into the game and finished the period with the Hawks ahead by one. The Swindon side were then always playing catchup but a Quick Chelmsford side made every lucky bounce and turnover count, including four Swindon own goals to punish the visitors, a good spirited game with a disappointing end. This weekend see's the Panthers face both Cardiff away and Milton Keynes home for the first time this season.
GOLF ANYONE?
(June 4, 2008)
Its that time again folks, the 3rd Annual "Panther Cup" is going to be held on Saturday 5th July. This years tournament will be held at Woodbridge golf club with T off at 9am. all Panther players new and old are eligable to take part with cost at £25 approx. Defending Champion Alan Armour will be providing this years trophy, please contact Neil Rouse if you wish to play at n_rouse@hotmail.co.uk
SCORPIONS GET STUNG
(June 3, 2008)
The Swindon Panthers continued their impressive 2008 season with a home win over the visiting Solent Scorpions, the Panthers took the lead and never really looked back. Apart from a couple of scramble goals for the visitors, Solent were unable to mount any real challenge in what was a scrappy game at best. The Panthers travel to solent this weekend for the return leg and hope to continue their winning ways.
WARRIORS GET BITTEN
(May 26, 2008)
The Swindon Panthers travelled to the home of the Bristol Warriors this weekend and came away with a convincing 9-4 win. The Panthers started by scoring first and subsequently led for the whole game, dispite some heavy Warrior presure. Swindon had scoring from all three lines and despite a small Bristol charge in the second period all the Warriors could do was slow down the Swindon scoring at times. The Panthers face the Solent Scorpions at the link centre next sunday, faceoff 4.15pm
DEFENDING CHAMPS SHOW FORM
(May 19, 2008)
Despite taking the lead twice in this game, the Swindon Panthers could not hold the visiting Streatham Chiefs for a full 60 minutes. With Play furious at both ends of the ice and Swindon having the better of the chances, Streatham levelled the score at 4-4 with just 66 seconds left on the clock, then they scored 24 seconds after the restart and left the Panthers no where to go. a disappointing end to a great game for the home team.
CHIEF DECISION
(May 14, 2008)
The Swindon Panthers face their toughest test of the season yet when defending champions, The Streatham Chiefs visit the link centre. The Panthers have made a perfect 3-0 start while the Chiefs have had mixed fortunes in their opening matches. This weekends game promises to be a real battle. Face off 4.15pm
VICTORY AT HOME
(May 12, 2008)
The Swindon Panthers made a succesful start to their home ice games in the 2008 season with a close fought victory against the visiting Chelmsford Nighthawks. Dispite Swindon taking the lead each time, Chelmsford were quick to equal up the score line on some sloppy defensive plays by the Panthers including two short handed goals. Swindon held on for the win and secured another 2 points for the league. Next sunday see the streatham Chiefs visit the link centre for a 4.15 faceoff.
HAWKS FLY IN
(May 8, 2008)
This sunday will see the first home fixture for the Swindon Panthers against the Chelmsford Nighthawks, the Panthers have won their first two away games and the Nighthawks have only dropped 2 points to league leading Cardiff, so this game will be a hard fought game, faceoff at 16.15.
SPARTANS WAIT !
(May 2, 2008)
The saturday sees the Swindon Panthers travel to Telford to face the new boys to the summercup for the first time, the Spartan have not won any of their first three matches, but the Panthers will not be taking this game for granted and will be ready for what Telford has to offer. Faceoff 15.30.
PANTHERS CLAW TO VICTORY
(April 28, 2008)
Bad ice and dogged defending meant that the Swindon Panthers had to work hard to earn their first league win and 2 points of the 2008 season. Scoring was spread throughout the team in a hard fought game that saw Basingstoke push the Swindon side every step of the way. This weekend sees the team head to Telford to face the new boys toi the league, the Spartans have not had the start their hoped for losing all three of their opening games with the Panthers now looking to continue this trend. Faceoff 3pm in Telford.
APRIL CAT FIGHT !!
(April 6, 2008)
The Swindon Panthers will open their 2008 summercup campaign with a road trip against furry rivals the Basingsoke Cougars. The Cougars held the upper hand in last years competiton but the preseason match up saw a Panther victory upset the balance. With both teams looking for a positive start, this will be an exciting first game to the season.
PANTHERS REACH FOR THE STARS
(March 26, 2008)
Over the Easter weekend 5 members of the Swindon Panthers joined up with the Swindon Northstars ice Hockey Team to compete in the Den Bosch international ice Hockey Tournament in Holland. The Tournament had teams from 4 countries playing games in a round-robin format that then established a playoff criteria. The Swindon Team only just missed 3rd spot losing to a Legends team from Holland with the tournament finally being won by the Ultrect Recreators also from Holland. Plenty of Hockey and fine local refreshments were enjoyed by everyone in a great weekend.

The Swindon Panthers left Solihulls Blue Ice Plaza with a easy 2-20 win in sunday, which was earned with the some suspect decisions from the officals. The game was however a valuable preseason match from which the Panthers will learn lessions, match report available
